This event coincides with the flowering season of our native elder and is a chance to learn about and celebrate the many food and medicinal uses of this delightful plant, as well as being aware of the many other berries and plants growing around y ou. After an hour or two of foraging, you’ll se t up an outdoor cooking space and transform the fo raged elderflowers into none other than delicious thirst quenching elderflower cordial and elderflow er champagne for you to take home. Recipe sheets w ill be provided. It promises to be a full and frui tful forage!

Late spring offers some of the broadest and most e njoyable wild food hunting of the year. Tender gre ens and shoots are still readily available along w ith the first flowering edibles, and an increasin g number of edible mushrooms can be expected if th e weather hasn’t been too dry. This is definitel y a walk for bringing a collecting basket with you . We will harvest foods for preparing at the end o f the walk, but you might want to consider making a personal collection for wild leaf and flower wi ne-making at home. Details of how to make a wide a rray of preparations will be discussed on the walk with Jesper Launder, along with a handout at the end.

Woods and hedger ows come to life with patches of fresh green growt h and this walk is the perfect opportunity to deci pher what can and can’t be eaten, and to learn how to differentiate the toxic from the delicious. With luck, some of Spring’s tastiest edible mu shrooms will be on the agenda too. This walk with Jesper Launder will last up to 3 hours and will be followed by an al fresco cooking experience of ou r best finds.

This year Cracking Good Fo od will be returning to the Chorlton’s Big Green Festival for the 3rd time, thanks to everyone wh o voted for us at Manchester City Council’s U D ecide scheme! We successfully came 1st out of 13 f antastic projects in our bid for funding to be abl e run another Cooks On The Hop event at Chorlton?? ?s Big Green Festival on 31 March 201
Our Cra cking Cook Rob (our expert breadmaker), will give inspiring tuition in how to cook up wonderful gou rmet stone oven baked Pizzas (look out for his sec ret tomato sauce recipe) under the wooden gazebo, learn how to make dough easily which you can then transform with your chosen toppings into your per sonalised veggy pizza by popping it into the wood fired oven. And all this will be done in collabora tion with Mark and Graham at Stretford Pizza Ovens . 4 sessions will be available, with 8 people in each, running for 45 minutes and then you get to eat what you’ve made!
