Marda Permaculture Farm, Palestine

6.30pm  Tuesday 30th June 2009 at The Common Place, Wharf Street

Marda Permaculture Farm, Palestine
Organised by the Leeds Permaculture Network

"You can fight the occupation with a gun, a weapon, with negotiation. I fight with agriculture. This is my fight."
Murad Alkhuffash, Marda Permaculture Farm Project Leader, 2006

Marda Permaculture Farm aims to model and share ecologically-friendly, small-scale farming and healthy lifestyle practices for farmers in the region, as well as providing outreach to students of permaculture from across the globe – all against a backdrop of expanding Israeli settlements and frequent army incursions.

We will hear from Allan Howard, who has helped establish 2 community projects working with permaculture in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, covering:

  • the challenges involved in creating permaculture development projects in difficult working circumstances;
  • the present situation of the Marda permaculture project;
  • the particular challenges facing Palestinians living in the West Bank & Gaza Strip.
